Default Speculate: NT Terrence Cody

NT Terrence Cody, super-sized point man for Bama. Compares to big space eaters like Ted Washington and Vince Wilfork. Current projections put him in the late first to solid second round. I understand that we have other needs in the first round, but if he's there when our turn comes in the second round, whatcha think?

Regarding Franklin: he is 29 and has had only one really standout season in his career (2009, his contract year). Therefore, he could be risky in terms of paying him, either via the franchise tag or a new long term contract. We also have no adequate backup for him; all our other guys have proven mediocre at NT.

So, if we tag Franklin (the most probable scenario as of now) then Cody could play behind him and rotate with him in 2010, then take over when Franklin leaves (sooner or later). If we choose to let Franklin go (the next most likely scenario) then we've got a new starting NT without skipping a beat.

That's my reasoning behind looking at Cody, anyway.

After seeing Cody at the Senior Bowl, let's forget that I posted this. The rumors about his weight problems and work ethic were true...
